More about Hospice...
Direct patient volunteers...
Indirect volunteers...
The goal of Hospice is to maximize the quality of life for individuals who
are living with a terminal illness and have a diagnosed life expectancy of six
months or less. This is accomplished by a highly skilled, compassionate Hospice
team who work together to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of
hospice patients and families. In cooperation with the patient's own physician
and caregivers, hospice physicians, nurses, and certified aides develop a plan
of care which employs expert methods of pain control and sympton management.
Other members of the team include social workers, volunteer clergy, bereavement
and lay volunteers. Each member has received specialized training which enables
them to collectively work to meet the nonphysical needs of the hospice patient
and his or her family. |
